Job Summary

The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management and provision of care given to patients by self or others who are under their supervision and in accordance with UVA Health’s policies and procedures and scope of practice.

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health.

This position requires providing services to all age populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individuals served.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science preferred within 5 years of hire.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Licensure:

Applicable state RN license required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required:

AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:

Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and Universal Precautions protocol.

Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
