About This Role
The UU World of Children is seeking caring and dependable Substitute Teachers to join our team. Substitutes provide support in the classroom on an as-needed basis, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 5:30pm. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young children, value a nurturing learning environment, and want a flexible schedule.
What You'll Do
As a substitute assistant teacher, your responsibilities include:
- Assisting the lead teacher
- Upkeep/Cleaning of the classroom areas and supplies
- Interacting with children while encouraging independence
- Supervising lunch/snack and playground times
- Keeping children safe and engaged
- Support children's independence and exploration in a respectful way
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 and possess a strong work ethic and a desire to work with children.
- High School diploma
- Experience working with young children (through camps, babysitting, classroom, etc.)
- Ability to pass required state background checks
- Complete 15 hours of online training within 30 days of hire
- CPR/First Aid certification and completion of annual training will be required (support provided)
Nice to Have
- 6 months experience in a licensed childcare facility
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Familiarity or interest in Montessori education principles
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong work ethic
- Enthusiasm for nature-based learning and outdoor play
