- Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position. The Postdoctoral Researcher in the Camacho Hernandez Lab is expected to functioning independently and will design and develop highly specialized medicinal chemistry/organic chemical reactions, full characterization and purification of small molecules that requires experience in at least NMR, HRMS, HPLC; summarize findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory; provide supervision and guidance to junior technicians, students, and researchers. Successful candidate may have basic knowledge of in in-vitro pharmacology, ideally but not require.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Design and oversee medicinal/organic chemistry synthetic procedure, purification and characterization of small molecules.
•Design and implement chemical procedures; design safety procedures; adapt new procedures, methods or instrumentation relative to research procedures.
•Collect, prepare, and analyze research data; keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data; maintain computer database of research data; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data.
•Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training of fellows, residents, students and volunteer workers as needed.
•Search and be up to date with scientific literature related to the assign project.
•Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory when needed.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
