Anesthesiologist Opportunities:

General Anesthesiologists and those with fellowship training in Pediatrics, Obstetric, or Critical Care Anesthesiology - Galveston, Angleton, and Clear Lake Campuses:

The UTMB Department of Anesthesiology is seeking highly motivated Anesthesiologists interested in providing clinical anesthesia care and the mentoring/teaching of residents. This will include, but is not limited to, providing clinical oversight to patients primarily at the Galveston Campus. You will be providing services to the operating room suites, endoscopy, radiology, cardiology, and obstetrics. You will be demonstrating leadership skills in achieving improved outcomes for all patients/families and demonstrating principles of services in patient/family and staff interactions. As an anesthesia faculty member, you will also need to attend departmental staff meetings, participate in the quality improvement process of the department, and participate in medical school and MSRDP committees of your choice. You will also actively participate in resident teaching by giving didactic lectures, providing individual instruction to the residents under your daily supervision. The mentoring of residents and participation in the ACGME approved evaluation process for each resident is also required.


Medical Director of Anesthesia – Shriners Children’s Hospital in Galveston:

The UTMB Department of Anesthesiology seeks a highly motivated board-certified Pediatric Anesthesiologist to serve as the Medical Director of Anesthesia at Shriners Children’s in Galveston. Clinical activities are expected to be distributed at the Shriner’s Hospital for Children (80%) and at UTMB (20%). The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, is a natural leader and change agent, is a proven innovator, and demonstrates the highest principles of clinical care.


Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology - Galveston, Angleton, and Clear Lake Campuses:

The UTMB OB Anesthesiology Division seeks a Chief of OB Anesthesiology for campus-wide engagement. This leadership role’s administrative responsibilities include organizing clinical services and team deployment, evaluating residents and fellows, and participating in departmental and health system committees. The anticipated effort distribution is 90% clinical and 10% administrative. The Division works closely with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which supports a residency program of nine residents per year (36 total) and a Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program of three fellows per year (9 total).


Educational Experience Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O degree and a U.S. Anesthesia Residency.
  • Board Certification and Fellowship training in respective fields.
  • Valid State of Texas medical license.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • ACLS Certification and up-to-date knowledge and specialty certification through the MOCA program.


Income Package and Community:

Salary will be competitive, commensurate with Academic rank, experience, and qualifications. Anesthesia faculty can also earn quality and group incentives, late room/additional call pay, retention incremental pay, and development funds. CRNA Opportunities:

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) – Galveston, Angleton, and Clear Lake Campuses:

The Department of Anesthesiology at UTMB is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) for our Clear Lake campus. As a CRNA at UTMB, you will work in a collegial environment and be part of a collaborative team with a broad range of clinical expertise and backgrounds. The selected candidates will be handling a broad range of cases including general, plastic, orthopedic, gynecology/obstetrics, ear-nose-throat, and neurological surgery.


Educational Experience Requirements:

· Master’s degree or higher from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).

· Valid State of Texas RN License.

· Valid State of Texas CRNA License.

· National Certification Examination required by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

  • U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
