What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager position at Utility?
Join Utility Global
At Utility, we’re reimagining what’s possible.
Our breakthrough H2Gen® technology transforms undesirable industrial by-products into clean energy and sustainable fuels and feedstocks, helping hard-to-abate industries decarbonize without compromise. We’re building systems and solutions that will power a zero-carbon future by turning what the world doesn’t want into clean energy it needs most.
But technology alone doesn’t change the world.
People do.
We’re building a team as bold as our mission. Engineers and scientists, designers and operators, storytellers and strategists all united by a shared belief: that the undesirable can become invaluable, and that industrial decarbonization can be both practical and economical.
At Utility, we see possibilities where others see limits. We believe progress happens when diverse minds collaborate toward a cleaner, smarter, more resilient world.
If you’re ready to do the most meaningful work of your career, join us and help build what’s next.
The Company
Utility Global is redefining how the world makes and uses energy. Through its breakthrough H₂Gen® technology, Utility transforms industrial off-gases and biogases into clean energy and sustainable fuels and feedstocks, helping industries decarbonize without compromise. The company’s proprietary technology delivers a scalable, economic pathway to a zero-carbon future, positioning Utility as a leader in the industrial decarbonization revolution.
The Role
We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Capital Projects team and support the execution of H2Gen® deployments through all phases of the project lifecycle — from front-end loading (FEL-1 through FEL-3) into detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup. Reporting to the Capital Projects Director, this role is designed for a high-potential early-career engineer who wants to build a foundation in project management and project controls.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior project managers, engineering disciplines, procurement, QHSE, and external EPC and OSBL partners on live capital projects with meaningful scope and visibility.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior project managers, engineering disciplines, procurement, QHSE, and external EPC and OSBL partners on live capital projects with meaningful scope and visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning, execution, and close-out of H2Gen® capital projects across FEL stages through execution, with day-to-day ownership of assigned work packages and interfaces.
- Maintain project controls deliverables including integrated schedules (Primavera P6 or MS Project), cost reports, cash flow forecasts, change logs, risk registers, and action item registers.
- Assist in developing and tracking work breakdown structures (WBS), project execution plans, basis of design documents, and stage-gate deliverables consistent with Utility Global's project management framework.
- Coordinate interfaces between internal engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, I&C, civil/structural) and external partners including EPC contractors, OSBL providers, equipment vendors, and site owners.
- Track procurement packages from RFQ through PO placement, expediting, inspection, and delivery, working alongside the supply chain team on long-lead equipment and pressure vessels.
- Support permitting and regulatory workstreams for U.S. and international projects, including coordination with environmental consultants on CEQA, air permitting, stormwater, and local authority approvals.
- Participate in project risk identification and mitigation, HAZOP and PHA sessions, constructability reviews, and lessons-learned workshops.
- Prepare clear, concise status reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal leadership, customers, and investors.
- Travel to project sites, fabrication shops, and partner offices as required (estimated 25-50%).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- 1–4 years of relevant experience in capital projects, project controls, process engineering, or EPC execution — ideally in industrial gases, hydrogen, petrochemicals, refining, LNG, or a comparable heavy-industrial sector.
- Working knowledge of project management fundamentals: scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, procurement, and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, and strong Excel skills for cost tracing, forecasting, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets, and general arrangement drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill technical detail into clear updates for non-technical stakeholders.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Direct exposure to hydrogen production, electrolysis, SMR/ATR, air separation, carbon capture, or biogas-to-energy projects.
- Familiarity with front-end loading (FEL) / stage-gate methodologies as practiced by industrial gas majors or EPC firms.
- Experience supporting projects through commissioning, startup, and performance testing in an operating plant environment.
- Working knowledge of U.S. process safety standards (OSHA PSM), ASME codes, and TCEQ or equivalent state environmental frameworks.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
