Job Title: Vegetation Control TechnicianThis position is responsible for the safe and effective clearance of utility poles, ensuring they are kept free of vegetation year-round. With company origins dating back to 1940, UTS has over 70 years of expertise in delivering professional, performance-based vegetation management services.Benefits:Union Pension - Retirement PlanHealth Insurance (Medical/Dental/Vision)Employee Assistance ProgramLife, long-term/short-term disability insurance Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Removes brush and grass from the base of wood poles supporting electrical power lines.Rakes and clears brush and grass away from the pole area.Handles all necessary repairs including the replacement of worn or damaged parts to chain saw and/or weed eater.Applies chemical herbicide to right-of-way following brush removal.Operates a chain saw and/or weed eater down to and at ground level.Walks over rough terrain to reach poles that are inaccessible with pickup.Works around moving equipment.Works around excessive noise from machines with hearing protection.Works in tight spaces - clear poles within an approximate 10-foot circumference.Minimum Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age or older.Ability to safely operate company vehicle. Education & Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.Entry-level position, previous experience is a plus. Pre-Screen:Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check. License & Certifications:A valid Driver's license is Required. Travel Requirements:Must have transportation to and from the show-up location.Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
