Position: Trailer Mechanic Apprentice
Responsibilities:
- Ability to perform as a mechanics apprentice.
- All minor light repairs to trailers.
- Assist other mechanics.
- Perform welding and cutting.
- Understand and follow operating instructions for various tools and equipment.
- Read reports, technical manuals, and other documents.
- To read and understand all manufacturers’ policies and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain maintenance records in accordance with Company policies.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures.
- Perform repairs in an efficient and timely manner to meet customer expectations.
- Ability to write concise work orders that mirror work performed daily.
- Follow good housekeeping standards.
- Perform all work in a safe manner.
- Operate a Forklift
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report all accidents to a manager or supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Have good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to succeed in a team environment.
- To continually strive to become more proficient.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- The use and knowledge of shop tools, cutting torch, and welding.
- Must be dependable.
- Have hand tools needed to make major and minor Trailer repairs.
- Work shifts specified by Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
- Be available to work needed Shifts and scheduled days.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
- May also engage in standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
- Due to the open environment of the shop, must be able to work in various weather and temperature
conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
- Must also be able to tolerate wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to,
a hard hat, steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles.
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks
