Role Description
Reefer Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Laredo, TX. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration units on trailers, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Day-to-day tasks include performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing work orders and documentation, and following company and manufacturer specifications. The Reefer Technician will use diagnostic tools, work closely with the service team, and communicate clearly with service advisors and customers about repair needs and timelines. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work area, adhering to safety protocols, and supporting overall service department productivity.
Qualifications
- Refrigeration and HVAC skills, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of trailer refrigeration units.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in diesel, electrical, and hydraulic systems common to commercial trailers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Effective communication skills for working with service teams and interacting professionally with customers.
- Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced shop environment, including standing, lifting, and working with hand and power tools.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company standards and procedures.
- Previous experience as a reefer, trailer, or heavy equipment technician preferred; relevant vocational training or certifications in refrigeration, HVAC, or diesel technology beneficial.
