Desktop Support Technician

Position Summary
Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, a leader in the development, design, and manufacturing of industrial transportation products, is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to join the Drafting Department. This is a hands-on position requiring one to troubleshoot, maintain, install and repair computer hardware.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support: Provide support for various hardware/software troubleshooting repairs as needed. Perform system restarts/shutdowns during occasional power outages. Restore corrupted or lost files using Veeam backup software.
• Install: Install and test computers and related devices/software including the Installation of VMware.
• Maintenance and Backup: Maintain 5 HP printers including replacing ink cartridges and Perform Veeam backups.
• Manage required desktop, laptop and software support activities. Create user accounts using Linux operating system.
• Communication: Communicate issues to appropriate IT Teams as needed. Contact third party services in case of hardware failures. Help create annual budget for the technical computing department.
• Drawing management: Move new and modified drawings from drafting to the release directory and archive older revisions. Create PDFs for new and modified drawings. Move standards drawings into the release directory. Distribute and set up desktop peripherals. Update and produce standard drawing index forms using the new app developed by Microsoft Power BI and Power apps. Update, modify Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and move to the release folder.

Requirements:

• High school diploma (Community College Certificate, preferred or Computer Science Degree, a plus).
• One (1) year of experience performing desktop help desk, network, and audio-visual support functions.
• Ability to install MS Windows and configuring systems.
• Knowledge in CAD software is a plus.
• Great communication skills.
• High aptitude for troubleshooting problems.
• Knowledge of Linux operating system.
• Capability to lift and carry personal computer and networking equipment (50 lbs. )

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Regularly exercises discretion and the ability to prioritize workload.

Compensation
Salary Range: $25.00 to $31.00 hourly
