Job Summary
We are seeking qualified candidates for an Engineering Technician position. The Engineering Technician will assist with all work associated with providing temporary natural gas service to UTI clients, including operating vehicles that require a class A CDL license with a HazMat endorsement. The selected candidate will be required to perform the job functions necessary to keep our clients in compliance with regulations and requirements associated with 49 CFR Part 192.
Day travel and overnights are required as part of this position, typically within Ohio and surrounding states, to perform field work and make site visits. Overnight stays will vary but are typically less than four (4) times per month.
The position will report to UTI's office in Groveport, Ohio. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Transportation of compressed natural gas cylinders (CNG) and bulk trailers
- Setup and pickup of compressed natural gas cylinders to supply gas customers during outages
- Filling of CNG cylinders
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Class A CDL with HazMat Endorsement or the ability to obtain the HazMat endorsement within 120 days of employment
- Ability to operate a skid steer
- Ability to walk various terrains
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines simultaneously without compromising quality of work or safety
- Mechanical aptitude
- Troubleshooting skills
- Skill to prepare documents, retain and organize records, in order to compile and submit various completion reports.
- Analyze situations, make decisions, act, and inform supervisors of exceptions to the standard processes
- Discretion when dealing with confidential information
- Good record of safe work practices
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Ability to pass random drug and alcohol screenings
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 plus years' experience working on or around natural gas pipelines and facilities
- Working knowledge and experience with 49 CFR Part 192 code requirements
- OSHA 10/30 and/or other industry safety training/qualifications
Pay: From $31.00 per hour
