Technician – Ceramic Materials Processing

The Role
Utility Global is expanding into numerous industrial sectors and looking for a Technician - Ceramic Materials Processing to join our Team in our Advanced Technology Center in Englewood, Colorado. As part of our organization, you will work with a highly motivated and driven team. In this role you will be responsible for preparing materials for experiments and pilot manufacturing runs. You’ll be hands on for every part of the ceramic manufacturing process from mixing batch and extrusion paste to running and cleaning equipment, firing furnaces and helping with QA/QC activities.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all work is conducted safely and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Research and Development: assist in research and development activities to improve the performance and durability of ceramic materials and processes used in hydrogen production.
Material Selection: Work across the organization with material scientists and engineers to select the most suitable ceramic materials for different applications in our high temperature reactor technology.
Testing and Analysis: Perform testing and analysis of ceramic materials and products using a range of techniques such as rheology, microscopy, spectroscopy, and thermal analysis.
Process Optimization: Optimize ceramic manufacturing processes to improve quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
Quality Control: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that ceramic products meet internal standards and customer requirements.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and other data. Prepare reports and presentations to share findings with colleagues, management, and customers.
Candidate Profile:
Strong interest in hands on making and process development.
Attention to detail and a natural curiosity about how things work.
Cultivate a sense of craft and pride in producing a quality product.
Hands-on experience with ceramic body preparation and processing.
Comfortable operating pilot scale ceramic machinery.
3 years in lab, pilot or industrial setting desired.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Able to work independently and utilize critical thinking.
Understanding of electronic and computerized laboratory equipment.
Some experience in the development and characterization of ceramics materials, preferably in an industrial R&D setting.
Working knowledge of material processing techniques such as extrusion.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Ceramics Engineering, or related field or 3 years of relevant work experience
Pay: $33.00 - $44.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
