JOB SUMMARY:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of utility services projects. This role oversees resource allocation, team development, customer engagement, and achievement of production, quality, and safety objectives. It requires a balance of strategic management, field leadership, and client relations to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and to the satisfaction of our customers.
Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Oversee the full lifecycle of utility services projects, from planning through execution and close-out.
- Drive scheduling, budgeting, and project reporting to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Resource Management
- Optimize personnel, equipment, and other resources to maximize productivity and meet project goals.
- Anticipate and resolve resource conflicts in a fast-paced environment.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Lead field crews by setting expectations, providing support, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
Strategic Oversight
- Implement scalable processes and systems to support growth and efficiency.
- Make strategic operational decisions to align company and client objectives.
Customer Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for utility customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop strong relationships by providing responsive communication, proactive updates, and solutions to challenges.
- Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded, driving long-term satisfaction and repeat business.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure all projects and employees meet safety requirements and company quality standards.
- Proactively monitor compliance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in operations management, project management, or utility/field services.
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, multi-site projects and distributed teams.
- Utility Industry Experience Preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to implement scalable processes in a rapidly growing company.
- Flexibility and adaptability to excel in a high-growth, fast-changing environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work in outdoor environments as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Field Operations: Regular travel across the U.S. to manage on-site projects and field crews.
- Diverse Projects: Exposure to a wide range of services, from inspections and treatments to structural engineering and transmission work.
- Outdoor Work: Frequent field presence in varying environmental conditions, including utility rights-of-way, rural areas, and urban streets.
