Compensation: $150,000-180,000 per year
This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends on applicants credentials.

Overview:
The Engineering Manager - TransmissionDistribution at Utilitra is responsible for leading and overseeing engineering design services for electric transmission, distribution, and substation projects delivered to utility and energy clients. This role provides technical leadership and people management to ensure highquality, compliant, and timely engineering deliverables across multiple clients and project types.
The position serves as a technical authority and client-facing leader, ensuring designs meet applicable codes, client standards, and contractual requirements while supporting business growth, team development, and operational excellence.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of engineers, designers, and other technical staff across transmission, distribution, and substation disciplines. Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of team activities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members through coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and professional development planning. Support both technical growth and career progression.
- Support Utilitra's growth by building and maintaining a strong, high-performing team that provides maximum benefit to our clients.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with client standards, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory codes.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and design packages prior to client submission.
- Enforce internal QA/QC processes and peer review standards across all design deliverables.
- Participate in client meetings, technical reviews, and design presentations as a subject matter expert and leader.
- Support proposal development efforts, including preparation of technical scopes of work and labor estimates.
- Assign work, manage workloads, and ensure appropriate technical resources are aligned with project needs, budgets, and schedules.
- Provide subject matter expertise in the design of overhead and underground high-voltage electrical systems.
- Contribute to departmental and company-wide strategic planning initiatives.
- Assist with the development, monitoring, and tracking of department financial and operational performance metrics.
- Continuously evaluate departmental processes and workflows to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.

- Develop new client relationships and expand relationships with existing customers.
- Attend industry events, meetings, and conferences both as a participant and a vendor representative.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electrical engineering with a strong preference for experience with utility-scale electric transmission, distribution, and substation projects.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred, or a demonstrated willingness to obtain licensure.
- Experience working with utility clients, including investor-owned utilities and electric cooperatives.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to visit project sites and participate in field activities, which may include standing, walking, and occasional lifting of light (up to 15 lbs.) to medium (up to 30 lbs.) objects.
- Ability to perform regular periods of prolonged sitting and computer-based work.
Travel Requirements:
- Frequent travel to client offices and project sites for monitoring and meetings. Occasional regional and national travel to attend conferences, meetings, and training sessions.
