Description
Understand the installation, testing, troubleshooting and repairing relay and control equipment in electrical substations, power plants and customer facilities including, but not limited to, electromechanical, solid state and microprocessor protective relays, instrument transformers, indicating and KWH/KW meters, sequential events recorders, digital fault recorders, controls to substation equipment and remote control equipment including various forms of SCADA. Comply with all company and client safety rules and procedures. Be responsible for estimating upcoming projects, monitor project progress and track time and cost. Assist team leader/management as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years training at a technical school (Associate degree in Electrical, Computer or Math) or equivalent experience in the electrical/electronic field
- 3 years work experience in electrical relays and controls, in addition to the education
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience in testing and analysis of test results on protective relays and control equipment
- Demonstrated experience with protective relay schemes
- Good communication, organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability and willingness to work out of town
- Ability to adapt to changing technology and schedules

- Project management experience
- Experience estimating electrical relay and control projects
- Experience with protective relaying and controls in a power plant environment
- Experience with advanced protective relay schemes
