Laboratory Technician I - School of Public Health (Brownsville)

We are hiring a Laboratory Technician I (Casual/ Up to 19.5 hrs/weel) to join the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health in Brownsville, Texas. In this role, you will provide technical assistance in the preparation of research laboratory materials provides support for the processing of laboratory specimens from study participants. One year laboratory experience preferred.

Position Summary:

This is a casual part-time position.

The individual will provide technical assistance in the preparation of research laboratory materials provides support for the processing of laboratory specimens from study participants.

Position Key Accountabilities:

• Assists in the setup of miscellaneous materials for research laboratories, including preparation of reagents, solutions, autoclaving of materials, labels, etc.
• Supports the processing of specimens collected from research study participants
• Ensures that data related to these specimens is kept up to date, including inventory data entry and updates
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
  
  

Minimum Experience:

• 1 year of experience with laboratory and/or scientific procedures required May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
  
  

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
