Summary/Objective
The Room Inspector is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and readiness of guest rooms through routine inspections and coordination with housekeeping staff. This role ensures quality standards are upheld and supports the smooth daily operation of the department by assigning rooms, assisting with training, and providing performance feedback. As a leadership support position within the housekeeping team, the Room Inspector helps drive guest satisfaction, team consistency, and overall hotel presentation.
Key AccountabilitiesÂ
Guest Room Inspection and Quality Assurance
Inspect guest rooms for cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards. Ensure all completed rooms meet or exceed established department guidelines. Identify deficiencies in cleaning or repair, and report discrepancies or incomplete work to the Executive Housekeeper for correction.
Daily Room Assignment and Schedule Coordination
Assign daily room cleaning tasks to housekeeping staff based on occupancy levels, staffing availability, and operational priorities. Monitor progress throughout the day, adjust assignments as needed to ensure timely room turnover, and coordinate break coverage to maintain consistent workflow.
Team Support and Training
Provide hands-on support to housekeeping staff, particularly during high-occupancy periods, staff shortages, or large guest turnovers. When needed, assist in room cleaning to maintain service standards and timely check-ins. Deliver on-the-spot coaching, help onboard new team members, and reinforce best practices to ensure quality and consistency.
Public Area and Supply Oversight
Check public areas, hallways, service closets, and back-of-house spaces for cleanliness, safety, and organization. Ensure supply carts are properly stocked and storage rooms are orderly. Take corrective action or notify leadership of recurring issues or supply needs.
Guest Interaction and Service Recovery
Serve as a point of contact for guest concerns related to room cleanliness or housekeeping service. Respond to questions and complaints with professionalism and urgency, coordinating with front desk, maintenance, or leadership staff as necessary to ensure prompt resolution and guest satisfaction.
Documentation and Communication
Maintain accurate logs of room inspections, staff performance notes, and daily housekeeping activity. Relay delays, updates, or concerns to the Executive Housekeeper and assist in tracking trends or issues affecting service quality. Communicate clearly and consistently to support team alignment and accountability.
General
- Must be at least 18 years of age and able to obtain and maintain a Ute Mountain Ute Gaming Commission Non-Support License (background checks may be required).
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, accountability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
Experience
- 2 or more years of housekeeping experience required
- Prior leadership experience in a hotel or hospitality environment preferred but not required
