Job Posting Title: RESA I ---- Hiring Department: Department of Psychiatry ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Dec 31, 2026 ---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS ---- Job Details: Purpose This is a grant-funded position with an anticipated end date of December 31, 2026, and is renewable based on the availability of funding, satisfactory work performance, and progress toward research goals. This role will support ongoing and new research studies in the Fonzo Lab and the Charmaine & Gordon McGill Center for Psychedelic Research and Therapy at Dell Medical School, The University of Texas at Austin. The Research Associate will assist with participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and administrative coordination while supporting research activities involving clinical interviews, neuroimaging (MRI), and electroencephalography (EEG). This role also offers opportunities for professional development, including training, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and co-authorship. Responsibilities Develop, conduct, and analyze research projects as part of a collaborative team of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants Support subject recruitment and coordinate participant scheduling, reimbursement, and study logistics Maintain positive relationships with research participants and laboratory volunteers Assist with data collection, including clinical interviews, self-report measures, MRI, and EEG procedures Organize and facilitate meetings and educational opportunities Assist with data organization, analysis, manuscript preparation, and presentation of research findings Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, neuroscience, engineering, computer science, or another STEM-related field Professional demeanor with tact and respect, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to work independently and troubleshoot challenges Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail Demonstrated critical thinking skills Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, including training and overseeing volunteers and students Comfort working in an MRI scanner environment and willingness to learn scanner operation (training provided) Comfort working with individuals living with psychiatric disorders, including participation in clinical interviews (training provided) Willingness to work occasional evenings and/or weekends to support research activities and deadlines Preferred Qualifications Prior experience with data collection in psychology, psychiatry, social work, counseling, or human subjects research Experience with MRI and/or electroencephalogram (EEG) acquisition or analysis Background in programming, statistics, or imaging methods Experience with standardized behavioral or neuropsychological assessments and clinical research Salary Range $40,000 depending on qualifications Working Conditions May work in all weather conditions May work around standard office conditions May work around biohazards May work around electrical and mechanical hazards Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Lifting and moving Occasional weekend, overtime, and evening work to meet deadlines This position is designated as fully on-site, with an expectation to report to campus for all scheduled workdays Required Materials Resume/CV 3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor Letter of interest Important for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers: You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
