For more information about Texas McCombs please visit: https://www.mccombs.utexas.edu Purpose The Associate Academic Advisor will participate in the planning and delivery of academic advising services and programs that promote comprehensive educational opportunities for McCombs School of Business undergraduate students. The Associate Academic Advisor will serve as a member of a larger community of professional and student staff in the Texas McCombs BBA Program Office who enhance the educational experiences of students by providing additional opportunities for global education, student leadership, career planning, academic support, and outreach/recruitment. Responsibilities Caseload Management Advise students on undergraduate degrees, policies, procedures, and campus resources, including advising McCombs Success Scholars students, students on academic warning, and students in crisis. Assist students with adds, drops, withdrawals and appeals and document advising interactions within two working days Maintain 24 weekly hours for student meetings Maintain an active student database for assigned student caseload Communicate with students via email and respond to inquiries within 2 working days. Advising-related Activities Respond to time-sensitive or emergency situations as the in-office Resource Advisor. Facilitate advising presentations in MAN 101 (required first semester 1 hour credit seminar) Support the planning and implementation of summer and August orientation Serve as the primary contact and liaison to a McCombs academic department/major Participate in university-wide and school-wide events (commencement, Gone to Business) Participate in professional development activities (Academic Counselors Association, NACADA, etc.) Project Coordination Assistance Assist in processing Tuition Rebate Requests and Be On Time Applications Assist with planning and support for McCombs portions of Longhorn Orientation Manage advising tools (i.e. Microsoft Bookings, advising degree checksheets, etc.) Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and at least four years of experience working with college students in an academic setting, or master's degree and at least two years of above experience. Experience providing academic advising and maintaining student records. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree and two years of experience working with college students. Two years of experience providing academic advising to undergraduate students. Experience working with student populations at the University of Texas at Austin. Knowledge of UT Austin policies and procedures related to the functions of the position. Knowledge of UT Austin academic advisor resources such as Advisors Toolkit and IDA 2.0, and UT mainframe applications such as NRRECS. Salary Range $49,500 annually Working Conditions General office conditions with the majority of time spent in contact with students, faculty, and administrators during usual office hours. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Some evening and weekend hours may be required during peak periods and special events.
