Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Surgical Assistant specializing in Oral Surgery to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and passing instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and managing surgical supplies.
- Ensure accurate medical documentation by updating electronic health records (EMR systems) OMS vision while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Take and develop X-ray images and utilize 3D scanners to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout procedures, providing support as needed for pediatric dentistry cases.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
- Educate and consult with patients before and after surgery
- Maintain clean and organized consultation and surgical rooms
- Travel between Orem and Saratoga Springs offices as required
- Assist in the ordering of medical supplies
- Calibrate and help maintain in office equipment
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with a focus on oral surgery or general dentistry.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is essential for efficient charting and record management.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for safeguarding patient information.
- Hands-on experience with X-ray technology, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools used in dental settings.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Certification or training in chairside assisting, dental assisting programs, or related fields is preferred to ensure high-quality support during surgeries.
