Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking an AWS Cloud Network Architect/Engineer to design secure systems and associated applications, services, and components. The selected candidate will follow SDL's rigorous Information Systems Engineering procedure, which utilizes industry best practices and standards (TOGAF, IEEE/ISO/IEC 42010 & 42020), to produce information systems designs. They will identify and document customer-specific system requirements, industry best practices, and security or compliance requirements then design a network or information system to meet those requirements. A successful candidate should understand how to take an information system from proposal to operation. This role is primarily an architecture and information systems engineering position, not day-to-day network operations. This is position is on-site, non-remote at our North Logan, UT location.
Key Responsibilities:

• Follows all applicable SDL engineering processes
• Responsible for designing complex, highly available information systems and supporting their implementation
• Provides clear, detailed guidance on selecting and implementing the most efficient solutions to meet business needs
• Gathers and synthesizes system requirements from internal and external customers defining operational requirements including integration with other systems or components
• Works with cross-functional teams to implement requirements into complete, workable system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints; also evaluate and recommend viable alternatives
• Acts as a Multi-Disciplined Engineer serving as a subject matter expert primarily in AWS cloud networking, with working proficiency across other information systems domains
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of network architecture and connectivity concepts relevant to cloud-based systems
• Assists in enhancing current engineering processes
• Serves as a peer reviewer for complex information systems designs
• Responsible for engineering documentation of assigned systems and solutions
• Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
• Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards
• Provides technical expertise on projects and proposal efforts
• Provides expertise in defining and implementing best practices to meet or exceed mission needs

• Customer responsibility matrix
• Risk analysis matrix and risk management plan

• Must have a bachelor's degree in related engineering science and 10 years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 4 years of relevant experience

• Experience architecting, designing, and engineering information systems - the candidate will be asked to present and describe these experiences

• Must possess a working knowledge of AWS cloud networking, cloud systems, and cyber security
• Demonstrated ability to architect and lead the design of complex AWS-based networked information systems from requirements through implementation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to perform engineering trade-offs between customer requirements, schedule deadlines, program funding, and engineering best practices

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment on collaborative efforts involving both internal and external team members

• Experience managing or contributing to project budgets and schedules
• Must have active Top Secret clearance
• Must be a US citizen
• Must be able to travel as needed
• Valid CompTIA Security certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire

• Experience using diagramming tools and MBSE methodologies
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Demonstrated ability to solve large and complex issues
• Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect - Professional, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, AZ-700, etc.)

• $116,000 - $160,000
  • Salary commensurate based on education and relevant experience
