JOB SUMMARY:
The Performance Dietitian will be led by the Director of Performance Nutrition and work collaboratively. The Performance Dietician is responsible for performing administrative and clinical duties within their scope of practice, while additionally providing guidance and counseling on nutritional practices to optimize performance and recovery. You must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and act on job duties quickly and effectively. The Performance Dietitian must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace and smile a lot!

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The sport dietitian is responsible for assessing, designing, and executing nutrition strategies for optimizing athlete performance
- Provide nutrition education consistently throughout the season to athletes, coaches, and culinary staff
- Take ownership of practice facility fueling station and smoothie bar and arena fueling station by organizing and managing snack production and product inventory
- Manage nutrition budget and expenses
- Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and procurement of supplements and food products
- Conduct blood work regularly, analyze findings, provide diet/supplementation recommendations, and monitor change between blood draws
- Measure body composition (DEXA), analyze results, and provide counseling to athletes
- Collaborate and communicate with Performance Health Care Team regarding sports nutrition and performance ideas and issues (Athletic training, strength & conditioning, sports psychology)
- Work collaboratively with Performance Nutrition Team and serve as a point of contact for nutrition needs of athletes (Chefs and dietitians)
- Familiarize yourself with kitchen operations and be open to helping cook and serve meals
- Participate in menu development sessions to provide nutritional guidance for meals
- Assist with travel nutrition planning, including but not limited to, packing travel suitcases, organizing road game meals/catering, packing snack bags, and creating travel nutrition education materials
- Opportunity for travel on road games

- Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Performance Nutrition

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in nutrition and dietetics.
- Must be a registered dietitian (RD) through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- 3 years of experience working with professional sports.
- Current Utah food handler’s permit (within 1 month of hiring).
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
- Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate business requirements, will require evening and weekend work schedules.
- Culinary background is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
- This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
- This person must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Occasional lifting up to 70 lbs., repetitive arm, hand and finger movements, occasional bending and reaching.
- Will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, such as when working near ovens or retrieving food from freezers.
- Manual dexterity required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
