The Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks, has seasonal positions (no benefits) available at Deer Creek State Park near Heber, Utah. This appointment will last approximately April 15-October 15
Job Duties
Assist in the operation of the Deer Creek State Park AIS/quagga program. Duties will involve implementing the Utah Aquatic Invasive Species Management Plan, with particular attention given to preventing the spread of Quagga and Zebra Mussels in Utah’s waterways. A large portion of the job is in outreach and interdiction by which boaters will be educated about Quagga Mussels and what their role is in fighting this threat. Duties will include interviewing boaters and educating them about the threats of aquatic invasive species, inspecting boats for the presence of aquatic invasive species or standing water, assessing the biological risk that watercraft may pose on Utah’s waters, and decontaminating boats and equipment with hot water. Training provided. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements and Skills
Applicant must be 16 years of age or older and have a valid Utah driver’s license at the time of employment. Applicants should have the ability to work independently in a tourism environment and willing to work outdoors. Applicants must be able to climb in and under trailered vessels.
Preference may be given to applicants with education in natural resource-related field and student interns. All are encouraged to apply.
Other
Applicants must be willing to work in an outdoor setting and work weekends and holidays. Applicants must successfully pass a criminal history background check upon hire.
