What are the responsibilities and job description for the POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER - Radiology - Nuclear Medicine - Sun Lab position at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
The Department of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern, Dallas, Texas) is looking for highly motivated synthetic chemists to work on various projects with research focus on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluations of targeted imaging probes or theranostic agents for noninvasive disease detection and therapy assessment.
Major research resources available include a recently established state-of-the-art Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Program (CRP) (http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/research/cyclotron/index.html) and a Small Animal Imaging Shared Resource (SAISR) funded by an NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/departments/simmons/research/shared-resources/).
Equipped with a GE PETtrace 880 cyclotron and a Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) Radiopharmacy, the CRP produces PET radiotracers as needed on fourteen (14) US-FDA Investigational New Drug (IND) and one (1) Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) approvals for clinical PET practice and research, in addition to over fifty (50) preclinical radiotracers for studies in various diseased animal models. With a comprehensive set of preclinical animal imaging modalities, the SAISR enables noninvasive assessment of anatomy, pathophysiology, molecular targets, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and dosimetry.
Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. Experience with small animal imaging, medical radioisotopes, and live animlas is desired but not required.
