JOB SUMMARY
The O'Donnell School of Public Health is seeking a Financial Analyst II, to join their team. In this role, you will work under the general supervision of the Financial Analyst Supervisor. You will gather and provide information regarding funding opportunities and application procedures to applicants. You will also provide guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission by interpreting and ensuring adherence to sponsor and university announcements and guidelines and provide grant management support to researchers by negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award modifications, and completing required reports. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
- Primary function is to assist the Director of Finance and Financial Analysis Supervisor as needed.
- Assists with monthly review of financial reports (All Funds - variances analysis of current budget and year over year).
- Assists in reviewing and updating the monthly executive summary and financial reports when needed.
- Participates in a presentation to division leadership.
- Provide data and information regarding Faculty financial awards, grants, and discretionary accounts.
- Check for chart field string overdrafts and resolve.
Check for invalid chart field strings (expense with no budget/revenue) and correct. - Track expenditures and encumbrances and resolve.
- Review and resolve suspense (salary and non-salary).
- Update sourcing on all faculty and staff positions.
- Track and report on travel and discretionary funds.
- Provide financial projections as needed for a grant or study.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or other related field
- Experience
2 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and/or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis
JOB DUTIES
- Completes variety of monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
- Prepares monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies concerned.
- Identifies areas of poor performance, presents findings, and makes recommendations to upper management.
- Prepares financial models and conducts financial analyses.
- May maintain controls for policies and procedures for financial system; develops and maintains delegation of authority of various procedures, such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, bad debt write-offs, etc.
- Completes special projects as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
