The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports perioperative and recovery services within the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Life Sciences Plaza. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient surgical and recovery environment while providing direct patient care, patient transport, and operational support. The Patient Care Technician (PCT) works closely with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to ensure timely workflows, room readiness, and adherence to performance standards.

The ideal candidate demonstrates accountability, initiative, and the ability to perform direct patient care and support duties in a high-acuity environment. Current or previous experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant is strongly desired, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure, collaborate with care teams, and maintain high performance standards.

Minimum $18.27 - Midpoint $22.84 - Maximum $27.40

The typical work schedule is 9:00am-5:30pm.

Responsibilities

Accountability and Workflow

  • Utilize time efficiently by completing assigned responsibilities and seeking additional assignments when available.
  • Organize workflow to support on-time starts and efficient case turnovers.
  • Use time, materials, supplies, and equipment efficiently to reduce waste.
  • Maintain stable performance under pressure and manage crisis or difficult situations appropriately.
  • Demonstrate awareness of operational costs and participate in cost-saving strategies.
  • Put away all supplies and equipment after each case.
  • Complete annual self-appraisal and provide required documentation.

Surgical Environment

  • Prepare and maintain the surgical environment for assigned patients.
  • Clean and turn over operating rooms according to performance standards.
  • Clean the operating room after the last case and prepare rooms for closure.

Direct Patient Care and Transport

  • Provide direct patient care according to performance standards.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, mobilization, and admit and discharge processes.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Perform patient transport duties safely and efficiently.
  • Perform supply and transport responsibilities according to performance standards.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Act as a member of a multidisciplinary team to identify and address patient care needs.
  • Update and retrieve patient information accurately.
  • Ensure patient environments are clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Function as part of an assigned care team.

EDUCATION

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Work Experience

  • Preferred: Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Preferred: CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Upon Hire

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
