Join the nationally recognized team at the MD Anderson Cancer Center as an Informatics Analyst within our Clinical Informatics department. This opportunity is ideal for a data-driven professional who is passionate about healthcare analytics, quality improvement, and leveraging clinical data to support operational and patient care excellence across a growing cancer network. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to help drive transparency, data integrity, and informed decision-making through advanced reporting, analytics, and governance practices.

The Informatics Analyst is responsible for managing, analyzing, and validating inpatient quality data across the Cancer Network to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with established standards and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include collaborating with Quality Operations teams to interpret Vizient and other inpatient quality data, identifying trends and anomalies within complex datasets, monitoring incoming data from network partners, and developing dashboards, reports, and visualizations that support operational insights and strategic decision-making.

This role also supports enterprise-wide data governance and reporting initiatives by helping establish data quality standards, maintaining validation protocols, coordinating with IT and analytics teams on system integration and data transmission, and documenting reporting processes, data lineage, and metric definitions. The Informatics Analyst will assist in ensuring timely delivery of quality metrics while supporting best practices related to inpatient data reporting and analytics across affiliated institutions.

Additionally, this position serves as a key resource for faculty, staff, and Cancer Network partners by providing education, training, documentation, and support related to inpatient quality metrics, reporting tools, and data definitions. The role requires strong collaboration with institutional teams including the Chief Quality Office to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and reporting strategies.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with healthcare quality data, clinical informatics, analytics, or reporting within a healthcare or hospital environment. Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience developing dashboards and data visualizations, and familiarity with healthcare systems such as Epic, Cerner, Vizient, OBIS, or similar platforms. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for operational stakeholders are essential for success in this role.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Inpatient Data Management & Analysis

  • Collaborate with Cancer Network Quality Operations to manage and interpret Vizient and other inpatient quality data.
  • Analyze inpatient data sets to identify trends, anomalies, and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across multiple reporting platforms and systems.
  • Monitor incoming data from Cancer Network partners and alignment to definitions and specifications
  • Develop and maintain data dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support transparency and decision-making.
  • Define and maintain clear data definitions, including numerator/denominator logic, selection criteria, and attribution models.

Metric Reporting & Governance

  • Establish and maintain data quality standards and validation protocols.
  • Coordinate with IT and analytics teams to ensure reliable data transmission and integration across systems (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, OBIS).
  • Document and communicate data governance practices, including source systems, data lineage, and update cadences.
  • Track reporting timelines and ensure timely delivery of required metrics.
  • Assist with disseminating best-practice analytics tools and strategies across Cancer Network affiliates

Stakeholder Support & Data Education

  • Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and partners on inpatient metric definitions, data sources, and reporting processes.
  • Respond to inquiries related to inpatient data and coordinate with content experts as needed.
  • Provide training and documentation to support understanding of inpatient quality metrics and data tools.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Quality Office and other institutional teams to align data practices with enterprise standards.

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree In related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree In related field.

Work Experience

  • Required: 5 years Related business, finance, project/process management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
