The School of Health Professions is seeking candidates for an Assistant Professor/ Associate Program Director DI Radiography program position. The faculty will develop, instruct and supervise both didactic courses and clinical education in the Radiography program. This includes performing regular assessment of didactic and clinical courses to ensure course and learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the program. Additionally, administrative duties will be assigned by the Program Director. The position will serve as the Associate Program Director for the Radiography program. This is a 12-month contract and requires face-to-face instruction and clinical supervision. Key Functions::

Prepare and maintain course outlines and objectives, instructing and evaluating student progress.

  • Participate in didactic and/or clinical instruction.
  • Correlating and coordinating clinical education with didactic education and evaluating its effectiveness with the clinical coordinator.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the professional discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development.
  • Participate in periodic review and revision of course materials
  • Participate in the accreditation and assessment process.
  • Supporting the program director to assure effective program operations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress.
  • Collect data and write the narrative for Radiography emphasis JRCERT self study for review, as needed
  • Collect data and write a Radiography emphasis assessment plan for review by the Advisory Committee
  • Present assessment plan and other MR emphasis information at the Advisory Committee Meeting
  • Maintain the JRCERT program database for Radiography emphasis
  • Collect data and complete the Student Learning Outcome (SLO) assessment for SACSCOC
  • Host information sessions, open house events, and other off-campus recruitment events
  • Develop and participate in continued evaluation of the MR emphasis
  • Conduct annual graduate and employers survey for the program
  • Present continuing education activities and seminars for clinical instructors and preceptors

Administrative Duties as Associate Program Director May Include All of The Following But Not Limited To:

  • Participates in the student recruitment, selection and admission process.
  • Assists in the preparation for and maintenance of program accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
  • Supervise, develop, and instruct in the curriculum courses in the School of Health Professions, as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Coordinate clinical instruction given by identified clinical preceptors (CP) at MD Anderson and affiliates as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Assist in the development and operation of the program by participating in the creation of program, lab, and clinical policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a resource and mentor for students and staff in the clinical area as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Serves as an extension of the Program Director by communicating effectively with staff, peers, director, and external and internal customers.
  • Coordinates student completion of clinical competencies and ensures all objectives are met during the duration of the clinical rotation as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Verifies the student has maintained accurate, updated attendance and clinical experience documentation as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Schedules clinical make-up hours for the student, as necessary, as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Assign grades for all students completing the clinical internship components of the program based on clinical input as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation of clinical internship competencies for all students completing the clinical internship components of the program as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Ensures there are a sufficient number and a variety of clinical sites for students to be placed during their clinical rotation as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Ensures all students are following the guidelines of the student handbook and address issues which may arise as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Plans and organizes activities for programmatic orientation and onboarding of new students as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Liaise with the clinical sites to ensure student onboarding requirements and compliance including criminal background, health and immunization, drug testing as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Assists with programmatic degree plan advisement and course audit, including verification of all graduation requirements and degree authorization.
  • Tracks students' clinical attendance and competency including, ensuring completion of clinical orientation, performance of regular updates of competency and evaluation records as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Other duties may be assigned. Other duties as assigned.

This position has a target base salary of $85,000 to $100,000 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree in any related area in healthcare or Education with a goal of obtaining a doctorate degree in any healthcare field or education. Graduate of an Accredited Program in the discipline(s).

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in any related area in healthcare or Education and
  • Graduation from an accredited program in discipline(s)

Required Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in Radiography.

Required Education: Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience as an instructor in didactic and/or clinical education within a JRCERT-accredited program. Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction and evaluation.

Preferred:Demonstrated expertise in teaching didactic courses such as Radiation Biology, Radiographic Exposure Physics, and Radiographic Anatomy and Positioning.

Onsite Presence: Is Required

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
