Job Description
Under minimal supervision, provides customer service to patients by scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, and providing telephone triage. Responsible for coordinating staff and activities related to the general office support within a clinical practice to ensure efficient workflow and patient satisfaction. Provides guidance to staff and/or provides relief on a regular basis. Assists in identifying and resolving operational problems and trains new staff members as needed. Lead or mentors lower level team members.
Schedule is open to Monday thru Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm or from 8:00am-5:00pm.
- Responsibilities
- Coordinates and facilitates communication between faculty and insurance plans, specialists, managed care operations, staff and patients regarding authorization for service and other insurance inquiries.
- Schedules appointments, greets patients, and performs registration and check-in/out functions; verifies insurance benefits; assists with coordination of patient exams, tests, and procedures.
- Maintains various charts, records and databases of patient information; prepares correspondence, billing, and reports.
- Provides authorizations, referrals, and general clerical support in a patient care environment.
- Trains and provides guidance to staff and provides relief on a regular basis.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Detail oriented with the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
- Able to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes/other email software.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED is required.Required Skills
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
