- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the reprocessing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation, including decontamination, cleaning, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, and storage processes within all set professional standards and regulations
- Ensures proper operational procedures are followed by all members of the team.
- Assumes responsibility, in collaboration with SPD manager, for scheduling new employee orientation, on-the-job training, in-service education, and facility quality assurance programs when needed.
- Coordinating and enforcing vendor compliance requirements, including credentialing, documentation, and a minimum 24-hour instrument drop-off policy.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM.
- BLS certification
- Comply with regulatory requirements, guidelines, and policies
Preferred Requirements:
- 4 years of hands-on SPD experience with one year of leadership, including lead experience.
