What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer position at USWT?
Engineer
Whether your future lies within the Engine Room or in the Wheelhouse, Norfolk Tug Company has opportunities for you! Our company works to deliver safe, dependable services to our customers and has been operating under the same management for nearly 20 years. While the towing industry is often dynamic, Norfolk Tug Company is a transportation organization that provides a reliable work environment for our employees with consistent time on, and time off the boat.
Our Company prefers to grow from within, and our wheelhouse crew is predominantly chosen from our Engineers. While our company has grown tremendously since the beginning, we still operate with the same ‘small-company’ family-feel. We’re looking for similar-minded, career-driven individuals with a strong work ethic and stable sea-legs who are comfortable working and living aboard our tugs for two-weeks at a time (followed by a similar time-off period).
An ideal candidate will be eager to learn, comfortable working independently, and mechanically inclined. Experience in a tugboat engine room (or equivalent) is required for this position. Additional training will be provided. Prior to vessel assignment, new hires will participate in an Orientation Bootcamp developed by our Company to best prepare new hires for work and life aboard our tugs. Additional continuous learning and training opportunities are available to mariners interested in career growth, including an in-house Simulator.
Norfolk Tug Company offers competitive day-rates and benefits, including healthcare, vision and dental; short and long-term disability; life insurance; and 401k-matching opportunities.
