The Role

This role identifies talent and facilitates coaching and training programs to assist in the development of our best prospects throughout the country.

  • Work with players, private coaches, and parents throughout the year to enhance the players’ competitive and training environment.
  • Oversee and participate in intense on-court training sessions at the Training Centers, competitive events, or other assigned locations.
  • Gender based coaching with expertise to successfully guide players through the different developmental stages.
  • Maintain consistent, open, honest, and respectful communication with personal and developmental coaches throughout the country, and particularly with coaches of players that the coach is working with currently.
  • Organize training opportunities for players and coaches.
  • Travel with assigned players to events.
  • Facilitate the interaction among players at the training facilities and competitive events.
  • Work cooperatively with the Coaching Education Department by participating in workshops as a clinician or as a presenter at selected events.
  • Work with the existing academies and private coaches to help build relationships as well as help the players maximize their potential.
  • Assist in the decisions regarding Player Development Grants.
  • Assist in wildcard decisions.
  • Job duties include on-court and administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain office hours at the Training Centers when not on the road; some weekend work required.
  • Create direct and consistent communication with the Sectional PD Staff/Coaches. Key areas of information to communicate are:
    • Identify and track top prospects.
    • Report on tournament and training results and opportunities.
    • Report on feedback from prominent coaches in the section on current events.
  • Create a linkage between National and Sectional High Performance.
Who You Are

  • Extensive tennis background working with players at all levels of the game, including, but not limited to, three to five years of experience as either:
  • An active player on the professional tour.
  • An active coach with a documented record of success with top-level players.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with and effectively manage relationships with players, their parents, coaches, and the tennis community as a whole.
  • Willing to reside in close proximity to the USTA Player Development Headquarters in Boca Raton, FL.
  • Effectively manage budget, expense reports, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Work successfully in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Must participate in the USTA High Performance Coaching Education Program.
  • Member of both the USPTA and PTR.
  • Maintain a high level of personal fitness and professionalism.
  • Must participate in the USOC SafePlay program.
  • Responsible for all office-related communication while traveling.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Able to provide references upon request.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position is designated as "on-site" and requires the employee to be at the office site to complete the required tasks associated with the position.

The expected range for the annual base salary for this position is $108,500- 135,000.This role is eligible for an Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP) bonus up to 5%. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
