You Are

The Senior Analyst – Credit Risk plays a key role at the intersection of credit risk management and digital transformation. This role is responsible for analyzing credit data, supporting risk model implementation, and partnering with technology teams to enhance and automate credit risk processes across digital platforms. The analyst will work closely with risk officers, data engineers, and IT delivery teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant risk management practices aligned with the organization’s digital strategy.

The Opportunity

  • Credit Risk Analysis & Reporting:
  • Analyze borrower credit data, financial statements, and portfolio performance to assess risk exposure.
  • Support development and validation of credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD, Stress Testing, IFRS9/CECL).
  • Perform trend analysis and generate insights for management on credit exposure and concentrations.
  • Ensure alignment of credit risk metrics with enterprise risk policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Digital & Technology Enablement:
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to digitize credit risk workflows (e.g., onboarding, scoring, limits, and monitoring).
  • Work with product owners to design, test, and implement risk-related system enhancements or automation using digital tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAS, Python, SQL).
  • Support integration of credit risk data into enterprise platforms such as cloud data lakes, dashboards, and APIs.
  • Partner with architecture and DevOps teams to ensure data lineage, quality, and governance.
  • Risk Systems & Data Management:
  • Maintain and enhance credit risk systems (internal tools or vendor platforms like Moody’s Risk Analyst, Axiom, SAS Risk).
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data feeds from core banking or digital channels into risk reporting systems.
  • Participate in UAT and production validations for new releases or digital platform upgrades.
  • Governance & Compliance:
  • Support periodic internal and regulatory reviews (Basel, IFRS9, CCAR, SOX).
  • Document and maintain data and process lineage for audit and governance purposes.
  • Contribute to policy updates and procedural improvements in collaboration with Credit Risk and Compliance teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Liaise between business (Risk, Finance, Credit) and IT for project delivery and ongoing operations.
  • Translate business requirements into functional/technical specifications for system implementation.
  • Communicate complex risk and data findings to non-technical stakeholders.

What You Need

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (FRM, CFA, or PRM) is an advantage.
  • Experience:
  • 5–8 years of experience in Credit Risk, Risk Analytics, or Risk Technology functions.
  • Prior exposure to digital transformation projects or risk automation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk concepts (PD, LGD, EAD, rating models, exposure management).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, SAS, R, or equivalent data analysis tools.
  • Experience with visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with data governance and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodology and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Accuracy and timeliness of credit risk reporting.
  • Reduction in manual risk processes through automation.
  • Quality and adoption of digital dashboards and data pipelines.
  • Compliance with audit and governance requirements.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction (Business, Risk, IT).

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Washington

Compensation Range: $88,000-$132,000

Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
