You Are
UST is searching for an FIB Technician who will perform SEM/FIB/TEM system operations, including routine maintenance procedures such as flashing, plasma cleaning, image calibrations, etc.
The Opportunity

Role Location: California
Compensation Range: $48,000-$72,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

You Are
UST is searching for an FIB Technician who will perform SEM/FIB/TEM system operations, including routine maintenance procedures such as flashing, plasma cleaning, image calibrations, etc.
The Opportunity
- Prepares samples for experiments, including cleaning samples, mounting/unmounting samples, loading FOUPs, preparing jobs for experimentation, and helping evaluate the performance of process systems.
- Prepare transmission electron microscope (TEM) lamella samples using Focused Ion Beam (FIB), optimize sample preparation procedures and conditions, and identify cutting locations based on pattern instructions.
- Operate metrology tools in the FIB & TEM lab to:
- Understand cross-section or top-view critical dimensions (CD).
- Perform Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis.
- Capture high-quality images based on job assignments.
- Identify all patterns of interest.
- Understand image quality requirements and sample/beam interaction to determine optimized conditions.
- Complete requested jobs under limited supervision after training.
- Understand the basic principles of Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
- Perform routine shutdown procedures. Identify problems, take tools offline, call for service, and coordinate instrument repair and maintenance.
- Order equipment and supplies, and coordinate with vendors and purchasing.
- Interface with requestors to understand detailed requirements, communicate results, and coordinate with engineering on job request status.
