The Business Development Officer is responsible for the qualification, solicitation, cultivation, and acquisition of large corporate partners to raise revenue and awareness for USO programs and services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Duties)
- Manage all stages of new business development targeting large corporate partnerships, including but not limited to lead qualification, proposal development, presentation, solicitation, contract execution and fulfillment.*
- Proactively seek new corporate prospects through networking opportunities, conferences and in-person meetings.
- Work cross-functionally to develop and negotiate contract proposals and agreements, ensuring that all terms and conditions are clearly defined, understood, and approved by key stakeholders prior to execution.*
- Ensure that all new business development contact lists, actions, proposals, and activities are promptly recorded in the fundraising software database.*
- Manage and grow a robust pipeline of prospects to meet short and long-term revenue targets.

Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 3 years work experience in a fundraising/development role. Relevant experience in a non-profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
- Knowledge of business development strategies and processes.
- Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. (Writing samples may be requested during the selection process.) Demonstrated ability to negotiate, interpret and fulfill contract terms and agreements.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with USO Leadership, the general public and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.
- Proficiency using computers and electronics equipment. General knowledge of various software, applications, and programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and constituent relationship management software. Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Must show initiative, self-motivation, and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing organizational needs.
- Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to perform basic business/accounting functions -e.g., manage projects and reconcile budgets.
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver’s license.
