Summary
The
Philosophy & Religion program in the School of Humanities at the University
of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month,
non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor in Philosophy to begin Fall
2026. The program has a new inter-disciplinary BA in Philosophy, Religion, and
Law that offers three pathways of concentration: Ethics, Philosophy of Law, and
Religion and World Cultures. We are seeking a candidate who specializes in
Philosophy of Law, with areas of competence in Ethics and teaching Critical
Thinking (with a focus on LSAT preparation). The teaching load is 4/4.
Primary
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Philosophy of Law, Ethics, Critical Thinking, and survey courses in both conventional and online formats
- Maintain active publishing and research agenda
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students
- Participate in program assessment
- Fulfill service obligations appropriate to teaching-track faculty
- Performs other duties as assigned
