Horizontal Directional Drill operator

USI Cable Corp a family-owned company in business for over 35 years is seeking an experienced HDD (drill operator).

Pay:

This is a full time hourly/non-exempt position $25 - $40 hour. Pay may vary depending on your skills and experience.

Location/Travel Requirements: NO OVERNIGHT TRAVEL REQUIRED! Position is local to the Dayton Metropolitan area.

Job Summary

A HDD operators primary responsibility is to complete assigned tasks safely and accurately using construction equipment such as: HDD - small/midsize bore machines, mini/mid-size excavators, skid steers, small mid-size trenchers, large vac trailer. Experience operating this equipment around existing utilities is desired.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles used to transport it.
• Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure it’s in good working order.
• operating or controlling equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
• Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to perform tasks correctly.
• Tracking scheduled maintenance of equipment and notifying our mechanics if maintenance is past due.
• Filling out performance records to report problems with equipment and track where and when it was used.
• Cleaning equipment after use and disposing of any collected scraps or waste.
• Completing minor repair work as needed.
• Assist teammates OFF the equipment when needed. (This is not a sole operator position)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Subject to environmental conditions: Activities occur outside.
• Subject to extreme heat during the summer seasons. Extreme cold and rain/snow during winter seasons.
• Subject to hazards infrequently during inspections. Including a variety of physical conditions, such approximately to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Ability to lift work loads of 50 lbs.
• Must possess good vision / hearing. (Normal or corrected).
• Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet.
• LICENSES:
• Valid Driver’s License Required, CDL Preferred

Preferred:

• At least 3 years of HDD experience.
• Must be familiar with all phases of Utility Construction.
• Expected to operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency.
• Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
• Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Operation and Control — Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
• Strong work ethic.

Schedule:

• 8 Hour shift
• Monday thru Friday
• Over-time available

Pre-screen: Upon offer, employees will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment MVR check.
