Description

Do you enjoy having the opportunity to help design and build unique products that are used around the world? USEMCO is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill our Manufacturing Engineer role in our General Factory Department. As a Manufacturing Engineer at USEMCO you would improve product Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost utilizing a variety of studies and continuous improvement activities.

Since 1963 USEMCO has been an acknowledged leader in the custom design and fabrication of packaged pump stations for wastewater and clean water and control systems as well as specialty manufacturing of tanks used for water, chemical and petroleum products. Electrical control systems and panels range from simplex constant speed motor applications to variable frequency drive panels and motor control centers. USEMCO's design and manufacturing philosophy is reflected in the quality of the product, our state-of-the-art facilities and information technology infrastructure. 


  

Position: Manufacturing Engineer

1st Shift/Full-Time: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday - Friday

Competitive Starting Pay: $ 65k , or BOE

Working Conditions: Not a remote position

Requirements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


· Record and review processes and tasks with personnel responsible for both quoting, designing, and carrying out said tasks and processes. 


· Collaborate with personnel in analyzing, developing, implementing, and documenting process improvement opportunities discovered in the recording and analysis of tasks. 


· Collaborate with management and staff to build and maintain relationships and establish formal and informal communication channels throughout organization. 


· Facilitate open communication and relationship building between departments, through regular meetings and updates on status of projects. Follow-up on decisions, action plans and results.


· Train and/or coordinate training for personnel in Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints tools and techniques, such as Plan Do Check Act, problem solving, etc.


· Facilitate communication between Sales, Engineering, Accounting, and Production by coordinating regular Gemba walks through Engineering, Manufacturing and Accounting. 


· Act as a resource for Sales, by getting vendor quotes and pulling and analyzing manufacturing data using spreadsheet software, CRM, and business analytics for sales to use in the bidding and quoting process. Provide format for product managers and sales engineers to use for a bid tool.


· Develop baseline cost reports. Review, determine, and report on source of discrepancies on costs vs. bid. Analyze costs, develop trends, and expected cost. 


· Develop a system for creating standard work for positions throughout the organization by collaborating with employees and department heads. 


· Develop standard work for accurate time reported vs time allocated for each job operation performed by collaborating with production staff.


· Facilitate instruction and implementation of 5S systems focusing on Standard Work for the Sustain portion of the system. 

· Follow-up on decisions, action plans and result.


· Perform other miscellaneous tasks, as assigned by management.


REQUIRENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Requires bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a problem-solving and leadership role. Experience manufacturing teams in a fast paced, low volume/high mix manufacturing environment, with an emphasis on continuous improvement, preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt also a plus. 


SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, spreadsheets, and statistical charts. 
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and other basic personal computer functions, as well as CRM, database and data analysis software. 
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. 
  • Ability to see problems from multiple points of view. 
  • Superior ability to apply interpersonal skills and understanding to facilitate teams of individuals with a wide variety of backgrounds to discover solutions to complex problems in a multidiscipline manufacturing setting. 
  • Ability to perform calculations relating to engineering, manufacturing, accounting, inventory control, continuous improvement and manufacturing statistics. 
  • Regular, consistent follow-up and follow-through are essential in this role.
