Job Summary
This position is located in the in the APHIS, Veterinary Services, Field Operation, Logistics Center. The position involves a variety of materials handling duties, preservation, packing, repacking, storage and/or shipment and distribution of a variety of veterinary supplies, equipment and materials in support of United States agriculture.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Major Duties
The duties may include, but are not limited to:Works independently in a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, handling, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment.Routes and expedites movement of parts, supplies and materials using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving equipment, devices, and systems.Performs assignments covered by detailed procedures, such as unloading, visually inspecting, rotating stocks in accordance with standardized operating instructions.Receives and marks incoming stock in accordance with standard operation instructions and completes forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue and labeling requirements for materials.Ensures the special requirements are met in the storing, monitoring, packaging, and shipping of temperature sensitive products.Arranges physical storage, assembly, packing and delivery of material, using manual and/or automated stock moving equipment.Uses hardcopy records or computer terminal equipment to determine stock locations and make selections by quantity and stock number, and assembles materials for supply orders and packs for delivery.Selects correct storage location using hardcopy or automated material identification equipment such as bar code wands, computer terminals and laser scanners.Uses hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, band cutters, and pliers to perform duties.
