Rose Hill Schools is seeking an experienced, dependable professional to lead the district’s transportation department and oversee the maintenance and performance of its vehicle fleet.
This dual-role position combines administrative leadership with hands-on mechanical responsibilities to ensure safe, efficient and reliable transportation for students and staff. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, an effective team leader and a skilled problem-solver who is committed to making student safety the highest priority.
- Plan, organize and oversee daily transportation operations
- Develop and manage bus routes, schedules and driver assignments
- Recruit, train, supervise and support transportation personnel
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, employees and district administrators
- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation, safety and licensing requirements
- Develop and manage the transportation department budget
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance and repair of school buses and other district vehicles
- Establish and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform vehicle repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate fleet, maintenance and compliance records
- Coordinate emergency transportation and vehicle response when necessary
- Promote a culture of safety, reliability, accountability and excellent service
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in transportation, fleet management, automotive maintenance, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance or a related field
- Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Valid CDL with the appropriate School Bus and Air Brake endorsements, or the ability to obtain the required license and endorsements
- Associate degree or higher in transportation management, business, automotive technology or a related field
- Experience in school transportation or fleet management
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Experience working with school buses, commercial vehicles, trucks, vans or heavy equipment
- ASE certification or other applicable heavy-duty vehicle certifications
