NETA Technician


Scope:

  • As an Electrical Testing Technician, you will work alongside other testing technicians to test electrical equipment in accordance with published NETA testing standards. The types of equipment include but are not limited to electrical components in the following areas: generation, transmission, medium voltage distribution, low voltage commercial and industrial, DC backup systems, and protection schemes. This position is open to entry level and experienced personnel.


Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive and professional image that brings good credit to themselves and the company.
  • The candidate will be responsible for procuring their own travel for work outside of the local region.
  • The candidate will be responsible for submitting all approved expenses for reimbursement.
  • This position will require the candidate to perform work in field environments and on construction sites as needed for customer support.
  • This position has the opportunity for after-hours labor (overtime).
  • This position may necessitate travel (via plane or driving) to other regional areas to support company manpower requirements.
  • The candidate may be issued a company vehicle which he/she will be responsible for maintaining.
  • The candidate will be responsible for maintaining company equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • All field technicians are responsible for providing their own personal hand tools. Specialty tools will be provided by the employer.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring their own safety. The company will provide policies and procedures to ensure the team is safe, but everyone is ultimately responsible for their own safety.
  • This candidate is responsible for being at the right time and right place, without supervision.
  • Use of computer software and data entry which includes the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Will be expected to continually develop their technical proficiency in new and old working technologies.


Additional Responsibilities for Lead & Senior Candidates:

  • The candidate must be familiar with and have a sound working knowledge of the NETA Maintenance and NETA Acceptance testing specifications.
  • The candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with the customer, the vendor and fellow employees.
  • The candidate must be able to stay productive in the field and in the shop.
  • The candidate will demonstrate leadership abilities by effectively teaching others the proper safe work practices and testing procedures.
  • The candidate must also aid others in solving problems and ensuring that the apprentice level employees remain productive at all times.
  • The candidate must be able to manage a working crew consisting of up to 3 technicians and / or electricians to successfully complete the assigned project without project overruns.
  • The candidate must be capable of reviewing technical documents and developing technical reports which include the project summary, deficiencies found, and corrective actions to be taken.
  • The candidate must have strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • The candidate will demonstrate the ability to determine suitable test procedures and execute them with little to no supervision.
  • This individual ensures testing is performed in a safe manner and has complete knowledge of the hazards involved.
  • Based on the test data and the conditions present, this individual is required to determine the serviceability or non-serviceability of the equipment serviced.

  • Authorized to Work in US
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel for work
  • Valid driver license


Additional Qualifications (Not Required but are preferred):

  • NETA certified
  • NICET certified (Power Testing only)
  • College degree in electrical field
  • AC theory training
  • DC theory training
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills
