Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Neurophysiologist Technician, under direct supervision, performs a wide variety of Neurodiagnostic testing procedures that include EEG, Evoked Potentials, neonatal recordings, in both the out-patient and in-patient setting. Works with patients of varying ages and medical conditions in accordance with the Neurophysiology scope of practice and standards defined by Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. The Technologist provides patient care consistent with the plan for provision of care to the patient, the plan for corporate compliance as well as the plan for performance improvement and patient education. Works with direct supervision, utilizing a variety of sophisticated instruments. The Neurodiagnostic tech I is an entry to mid-level position in the Neurophysiology Laboratory, department of Neurology. The Neurodiagnostic tech I responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patient hook-ups, daily maintenance of electrodes; daily archiving of patient data; prepares data (edits files) for physician review; and equipment maintenance. Must demonstrate knowledge of basic principles of growth and development over the life span and demonstrate professional conduct in a manner consistent with the ABRET code of ethics. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Minimum of two (2) year experience in EEG or graduate from accredited Neurodiagnostic program with required 1200 hour practical experience completed. Pediatric Experience preferred. Documented Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated organizational skills. Demonstrated minimum of two (2) years having worked in EEG with pediatric experience preferred. Education/Licensure/Certification: HS graduate. Graduate of a Neurodiagnostic program accredited by the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation/ and or equivalent experience preferred License, Registration or Certification Required: ABRET Board eligibleCurrent BLS from the American Heart AssociationMinimum of 2 years college preferred.Pay Scale Information
