The Advancement Events and Programming Coordinator for the USC School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) is a newly created position within the SCA Advancement office based on the increased need for more coordination and integration within SCA to ensure impactful events. As the School embarks on a fundraising campaign and series of events to celebrate its 100th Anniversary, this position will be critical to ensuring continued success in philanthropy among its key constituents. The primary responsibilities for the position will include managing logistical elements for regular annual campus events, including USC Orientation Week, Trojan Family Weekend, and Commencement; overseeing donor-related special events such as Endowed Chair and Building Dedications; handling bookings for ongoing SCA Community screenings and conversations as well as high-profile class guests, such as for the 466 and 467 courses; planning ongoing Advancement-related programming involving donors and sponsors, including some off-campus events; and supporting the Offices of the Dean and Advancement on 100th Anniversary celebration events. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Programming and Events, the ideal candidate should have event planning and talent management experience in the entertainment industry and an understanding of the School of Cinematic Arts and its alumni community. Applicants should preferably be experienced in working with external event sponsors and be familiar with event management platforms.

The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent oral and written communication skills; a keen attention to detail and to deadlines; an ability to multi-task on different projects and easily pivot when needed; an ability to collaborate effectively and flexibly while working with different internal and external constituencies; and an understanding of relationship building with donors and high-profile guests.

The position's responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing logistical elements for regular annual campus events, including USC Orientation Week, Trojan Family Weekend, and Commencement
  • Overseeing donor-related special events such as Endowed Chair and Building Dedications
  • Handling bookings for ongoing SCA Community screenings and conversations as well as high-profile class guests, such as for the 466 and 467 courses
  • Planning ongoing Advancement-related programming involving donors and sponsors, including some off-campus events
  • Supporting the Offices of the Dean and Advancement on 100th Anniversary celebration events
  • Collaborating with other SCA staff on events as well as donor and high-profile guest visits
  • Managing a series of invitation lists for a variety of constituents
  • Creating event websites, sending event invitations out, tracking RSVPs, generating guest lists, and updating data for event management purposes
  • Performing other duties as assigned in support of SCA's mission

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education
  • Minimum Experience:2 years
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize work assignments and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Solid relationship-building skills, ability to interface with donors, leading faculty and staff, cross-campus partners, and high-profile guests
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Experience: 4 years
  • Experience in and an understanding of the entertainment industry as well as the School of Cinematic Arts and its alumni community
  • Experience with event management platforms, including software platforms
  • Development experience in higher education.
  • A valid driver's license is required; with weekend and evening work expected.

The hourly range for this position is $33.85-$37.78. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
