The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Quantitative Risk Analyst - Senior. This person will have a solid quantitative foundation; excellent communication and influencing skills; deep experience in P&C, Catastrophe Management, Reinsurance, and/or Financial Risk; and direct experience working in a second line of defense function. Must be a self-starter, who has a passion for finding risk and the ability to create and present high level reporting.
This quantitative risk analyst senior is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Plano, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Charlotte, NC; Colorado Springs, CO or Tampa, FL. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results
What you'll do:
- Applies advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness and translates results into substantial solutions to improve decision making.
- Applies advanced knowledge and industry standard processes to quantify risk and aggregate exposures.
- Engages in model validation and produces model validation reports.
- Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives and inspire change.
- Translates recommendations into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and management.
- Applies knowledge to produce analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Provides mentorship to other team members in the peer review process.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative field.
- 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- 8 years related quantitative analysis experience in a field relevant to risk management to include statistical analysis, modeling, mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
What sets you apart:
- Experience working in a Risk / Second Line of Defense function
- Catastrophe Risk Management or Reinsurance background preferred
- P&C (Property and Casualty) Portfolio Risk Management experience preferred
- Experience assessing Interest Rate, Credit, Liquidity, Market and Counterparty Default risks
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment; significant tolerance for change
- Ability to navigate complex business environments, partnering effectively at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Insurance industry certifications; such as CPCU, AIR, FSA, CERA and/or actuarial designations are preferred, but not required

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $104,660 - $199,970.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
