The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Compliance and Operational Risk Testing Analyst Lead. This Lead position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following office locations: San Antonio, TX, Tampa, FL, Charlotte, NC, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ or Colorado Springs, CO, with occasional business travel. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

Enterprise Compliance and Operational Risk Testing (ECORT) provides independent testing to assess the effectiveness of USAA policies, procedures, internal controls, and processes in mitigating the risk of non-compliance with laws, regulations, supervisory guidance and company policies and procedures. As a lead in the Financial Crimes Testing Team, you will test processes and risks associated with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Fraud, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC), and Conduct Risk. Some of the responsibilities include planning and scoping testing engagements, managing testing resources and project planning, interactions with business stakeholders and executive leadership, and identification and reporting key risks and issues identified during testing.

The incumbent will draft and retain well detailed work papers to build accurate and concise written governance documents and reports.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Develop the test scope and steps needed to test and/or analyze compliance with complex policies/procedures and laws/regulations.
  • Serve as a subject matter authority in a specific subject/business area and provides mentorship to team members on complex issues.
  • Lead and manage a grouping of tests to ensure operational risks and compliance requirements are adhered to and completed within established timeframes.
  • Review and complete, as needed, work papers to support conclusions of test findings.
  • Provide input on allocation of resources to complete testing activities.
  • Perform complex qualitative analysis of data.
  • May develop executive briefs and present to key internal and external team members.
  • Build, develop, and maintain relationships with the business and internal control partners (Audit, Risk & Compliance, Legal) to facilitate collaboration between all lines of defense for testing.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree (12 years total without a degree).
  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience (internal/external audit, operational risk/compliance testing, quality assurance).
  • Experienced knowledge of relevant industry regulations and regulatory compliance in a specific area.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws and regulations and guidance or operational risk principles/concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of testing techniques and data analysis principles, as well as the ability to interpret subsequent results.
  • Proven track record to communicate effectively at all levels of management to impact and influence.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience in second line of defense testing, audit, and/or regulatory examinations leading assignments, developing test scopes, creating tests scripts, and providing mentorship and leadership to team members.
  • 6 years of advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel knowledge of SUMIF, COUNTIF and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Relevant Compliance, Risk, and/or Third-Party designations (CAMS, CFE, CAFP, CFCS, CRCM, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, experience in business writing and speaking publicly to partners and executives.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $115,240 - $220,270.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
