Responsibilities
- Carries out a treatment plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Maintains clear communication with the attending physician, ED nursing and other members of the healthcare team.
- Taking vital signs, reporting deviation of normal vital signs
- Perform point of care testing
- Perform EKG
- Perform venipuncture & IV insertion
- Collect lab specimens
- Assist nursing staff with ED processes during transport downtime (admission, triage, etc.)
- Participate as a driver for the USA Southstar ambulance
- Promote patient safety and & family centered care
- Assist with maintaining a well stock orderly environment on the ambulance
- Document appropriately in the electronic medical record.
- Completes all mandatory department, educational, and hosptial requirements
- Adheres to current infection control and safety standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of EMT-Paramedic course Required
- 1 year paramedic experience. Preferred
- Licensed as a Paramedic in the state of Alabama Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama may be required for some positions. Required
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
