Responsibilities
This is highly responsible work assisting the Assistant Director, Hospital Patient Business Services by performing legal research, preliminary research of claims and filing documents with the court; an employee in a position allocated to this classification is responsible for researching, selecting and compiling Information gathered from the medical record and other sources; analyzing and handling routine procedural problems; performing preliminary investigations of claims and filing legal documents with the courts; performs research of court records, gathering information through online public records, factual investigation, medical records review and document management; analyzes and handles routine procedural problems; performs preliminary investigations of claims made by USA Health against insurers and Other legal entities; gather and arrange evidence and other legal documents for the Assistant Director and collection for review and case preparation; prepares Alabama Hospital Liens, Corporate Cancellations and Estate Claims with the Probate Court of Mobile County, the probate court in the Alabama county where the patient resides, the probate court in the Alabama county which the accident happened. and out-of-state probate courts; files legal documents with the court; follows up daily during a workday with attorney offices to update the status of each case; drafts routine correspondence and documents; manages a range of confidential records, processes and documents throughout legal proceedings such as litigation and settlement negotiations; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs other duties as assigned/ required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and five years of hospital and/or medical business office experience, one of which included preparing court documents to include liens, estate claims, bankruptcy or directly related experience is preferred.
