JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager, Sport Development & Competitions will act as the main point of contact for Development Program prospective and assigned Coach, Event and Official personnel and work with the Director, Development Program on execution, implementation and quality assurance of on-field programming. This role also has a responsibility to support identification of coaches, event/tournament directors, and officials to support USA Football programming and sanctioning needs.
This role will have direct management of Coach and Official personnel going through the National Team Development Program education pathways and ensure execution of run of show and programming at events. They will be responsible for collaborating with any/all subject matter experts (SMEs) taking place within the program. The role will also handle one-off/high profile training for SMEs undergoing education that would be similar to the Academy.
This role also has competition, sanctioning and event responsibilities. This includes acting as the on-site liaison with events for any competitive tournaments within an event or tournaments themselves. If requested and available, they’ll serve as the on-site tournament/competition director, working with the sanctioning and events team. Lastly, they will help USA Football identify operators who run good events – including camps and tournaments.
They will also travel to events and ensure execution and quality assurance of curriculum designated onsite by Development Program personnel, including handling Field Assignments with events for Coaches and Officials on-site and holding pre-event meetings (both virtually and in-person) and helping ensure a strong quality on site.
Finally, this role will make recommendations to the department heads related to coach and officials selection for events.

- Manage coaches, officials and other personnel groups as assigned going through the Academy program and ensure execution of onsite programming at events
- Oversight of designated SMEs within the National Team Development Program education pathway for coaches and officials
- Act as the programmatic point-of-contact for the Development Program coaches, officials and other personnel – for events internally, education virtually/in-person, and any other events as designated
- Develop a Quality Assurance program for on-site and/or sanctioned experiences at developmental and competitive events within the Development and Sanctioning Program and ensure execution
- Develop and maintain high-touch strategic relationships with key constituents with the flag football marketplace
- Prepare for pivots by refining strategies, plans and tactics and keeping programs in a good position for short- and long-term success
- Work with events to designate field assignments for coaches and officials onsite
- When necessary, support curriculum development by providing information and insights for material creation or presentations
- Ensure SME materials are delivered in a timely manner to curriculum development team to be integrated into our brand and educational principles
- Participate in product and program meetings and communicate instruction, details and information in product teams while representing team needs in those meetings
- Review sales and marketing collateral and resources to provide insight/create content where appropriate
- Provide insight and feedback for Marketing, Social and Customer Service aspects of USA Football’s overall go-to-market strategies.
- Occasionally participate in constituent communication, calls and virtual engagements for our products, programs and events
- Make necessary handoffs with other department staff members as appropriate
- Manage projects and update as appropriate through our Project Management Software (Wrike)
- Travel as necessary for USA Football events and programs
- Act as Tournament/Competition Director for designated events
- Occasionally provide messaging/video content for social media or email initiatives

Job Requirements
- 4-5 years of relevant work experience in sports operations and/or competition services; experience leading on-field programming competitive tournaments and camps.
- Previous presentation experience (2 years)
- Previous experience coordinating on-site experiences for
- Highly preferred: Experience with sports, particularly tackle or flag football
- Knowledge and understanding of youth sports, the role of NGBs and USA Football’s mission
- Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Sports Management or other relevant areas
- Experience working with key stakeholders
- Experience leading competitive flag organizations as a coach or administrator
