JOB TITLE: Orderly
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Operating Room (OR) Orderly supports room turnover, maintains appropriate stock levels, and performs assigned tasks. The OR Orderly performs all duties in accordance with infection prevention standards and facility policies and procedures.
The role promotes a safe, clean, and efficient surgical environment for patients, physicians, staff, and visitors.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Previous operating room, healthcare or environmental services experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Basic understanding of infection control principles
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Effective teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and pull patients and equipment (with assistance and/or mechanical devices).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move quickly between locations.
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for safe patient transport and environmental awareness.
Work Environment
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, and regulated medical waste.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
- Exposure to surgical and anesthesia environments.
- Requires use of required PPE.
