Join our team. #CloroxIsThePlace Your role at Clorox: This role is responsible for managing Clorox’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulatory obligations across enacted and emerging compliance programs. The position resides within the Strategic Regulatory group in the Legal & External Affairs function and serves as the enterprise lead for interpretation and assessment of EPR regulatory requirements that impact Clorox’s products and packaging. In this role, you will: Key Responsibilities EPR Program Oversight Lead and maintain accountability for Clorox’s EPR regulatory programs relevant to the company’s products and packaging Influence and drive our approach for EPR regulatory strategy Interpret EPR statutes, regulations, and guidance to determine producer responsibilities, scope, exemptions, and timing Translate and communicate regulations into clear, unambiguous regulatory requirements for Clorox Regulatory Interpretation & Execution Conduct detailed review and interpretation of laws, regulations, and guidance documents, including Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) requirements Ensure accurate and timely submissions of regulatory filings including producer registrations and reports Interpret regulatory requirements related to PCR content and prepare and submit required PCR regulatory reports External Engagement Maintain awareness of external regulatory initiatives that are shaping the EPR environment Engage in regulatory forums and trade association groups addressing regulatory EPR matters, shaping outcomes to represent Clorox’s interests Serve as the primary liaison for Clorox on Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) plans, guidance, and requirements, and communicate externally generated obligations to the internal cross-functional team Cross-Functional Collaboration Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Government Affairs, Legal, Sustainability) and trade associations on regulatory interpretation of legislation and implementation issues Engage with the cross-functional team to ensure regulatory requirements are understood and met Monitoring, Risk Management & Communication Track emerging EPR regulations, rulemakings, and guidance across U.S. and international geographies, as needed to support Clorox business requirements, and coordinate with regional regulatory leads where responsibilities are held locally Identify regulatory risks, compliance gaps and trade-offs; recommend mitigation strategies Provide concise, fact-based updates to senior leadership on compliance status, upcoming obligations, and regulatory developments Monitor emerging and evolving regulatory requirements related to PCR content and communicate implications for compliance risk and future reporting obligations What we look for: Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline (e.g., engineering, chemistry, environmental science, materials science, or related field) 8 years of relevant experience in regulatory affairs, product stewardship, compliance, or a related technical/regulatory function within consumer products, manufacturing, or another regulated industry A strong understanding of regulatory frameworks involving EPR and comparable complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory programs Demonstrated ability to carefully read, interpret, and apply regulations and technical guidance Experience managing complex, multi-jurisdictional requirements involving detailed data, deadlines, and external stakeholders Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational execution Proven ability to work effectively across functions in a large, matrixed CPG organization Strong written and verbal communication skills especially when simplifying complex regulatory concepts and requirements across functions and levels of the organization Preferred Direct experience with packaging regulations Experience managing or supporting EPR regulatory obligations for multiple product categories (e.g., packaging, batteries, beverage, tires, etc.) and/or in multi-regional contexts Experience interacting with regulators, PROs, trade associations, or external consultants on packaging regulations Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or JD) in a technical or regulatory-relevant field Workplace type: On-Site Oakland Our values-based culture connects to our purpose and empowers people to be their best, professionally and personally.
