We are seeking experienced Fiber Optic & Data Technicians for a large-scale Data Center construction project. Technicians will be responsible for the installation, termination, splicing, and testing of fiber optic and structured cabling systems throughout the facility. This role requires experience working in mission-critical environments and a strong understanding of fiber optic installation standards and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure fiber optic and Ethernet/CAT6 cabling throughout the data center.
- Perform fiber optic terminations, fusion splicing, and testing of fiber networks.
- Terminate and test copper data cabling, including CAT6 systems.
- Install and terminate fiber into Corning 144-count and 288-count fiber distribution kits.
- Land cables into telecommunications closets, connection boxes, and patch panels.
- Install jumpers and connections from distribution points to server and equipment racks.
- Utilize OTDRs, power meters, and other testing equipment to verify system performance.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, cable schedules, and installation documentation.
- Maintain quality workmanship while adhering to project specifications and safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Fiber Optic Technician, Data Technician, or Structured Cabling Technician.
- Proficiency with fusion splicing and fiber optic termination methods.
- Experience installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and CAT6 cabling.
- Familiarity with Corning fiber systems, including 144-count and 288-count fiber kits.
- Ability to perform fiber testing and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and cable schedules.
- Experience working on data center, commercial, or mission-critical construction projects preferred.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work overtime as project demands require.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with OTDR testing and fiber certification.
- Knowledge of TIA/EIA structured cabling standards.
- Experience working in active or new construction data center environments.
